From President’s Desk:

Dear Friends,
Humanity is on verge of vanishing by increasing Global Warming. Devastating hurricanes, alarming rise in sea-levels, rivers inundating cities, unheard deadly deceases that the humanity is encountering world-wide, is just the beginning of our end and the reasons are not natural or the supernatural but man-made. The reason behind organising this National Convention on World Environment Day 2017 with Connect with Nature, Plug Global Warming as its theme, is to educate and make aware the younger and future generation to be cautious enough about the dangers of Global Warming and how to reduce Pollution around us. The man has travelled a lot, from the
stone-age era to the current modern one where the science has virtually proved that sky is not the limit. The man has conquered the moon and the mars searching for life there but then the million dollar question arises whether this earth is enough for the humanity to live on or if we have turned it into a non-liveable planet, What are we up-to, or are we in search of another planet to pollute that too, although there is no other earth in the universe, so far, where water is available. We find ourselves eliminating the humanity itself in the name of development, when we wildly kill the trees for monetary benefits. Friends, humanity includes trees also.

The UN decided the theme of WED 2017 as Connecting People to Nature, the effects of deforestation include the destruction of natural capital in which many nations could build healthy tourism industries the spread of corruption and the undermining of the rule of law all around the world and the fattening of purses of the international crime syndicates. Natural resources such as lakes, rivers, forests, wildlife etc. have a pivotal role in Indian lifestyle but growing pollution in the country is increasing pressure on environment. There are many environmental issues in India. Air pollution, water pollution, garbage, and pollution of the natural environment are all challenges for India. According to World Bank experts, between 1995 through 2010, India has made one of the fastest progress in the world, in addressing its environmental issues and improving its environmental quality. Still, India has a long way to go to reach environmental quality required to minimise pollution that remains a major challenge and opportunity for India. Major environmental issues are forest and agricultural degradation of land, rampant burning of fuel-wood and biomass such as dried waste from livestock as the primary source of energy, lack of organised garbage and waste removal services, lack of sewage treatment operations, lack of flood control and monsoon water drainage system, diversion of consumer waste into rivers, cremation practices near major rivers, resource depletion, environmental degradation, public health, loss of biodiversity, loss of resilience in ecosystems, livelihood security for the poor. Environmental issues are one of the primary causes of disease, health issues and long term livelihood impact for India. It is high time that we wake to the natures call and take proper care of the mother earth as the mother has always cared about us and it is the time for us to reciprocate appropriately and take care as we
nurture own children rather than destroying it.

Similarly, we must take care of the animals, especially the wild also since it is not whether the animals will survive, it is whether humans have the will to save them. Environmental protection is not a single-day campaign. This is a life-long cause of day-to-day efforts of every citizen of the world. So, wake-up.

Thank You!
