Founded in 2006 in the Home-State of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, Gujarat, with sole aim to safeguard the Human Rights of the under-privileged, as guaranteed under our Constitution and to ensure that Social Justice is delivered to the last person, Progressive Foundation of Human Rights (PFHR) has been working restlessly for the cause of Human Rights & Social Justice of downtrodden, deprived of their Human Rights and towards the uplift of the masses those lack knowledge about their Human Rights due to wide range of reasons, for many generations. Social Justice refers to the concept of a society where justice is achieved in every aspect.

Progressive Foundation for Human Rights (PFHR) is an independent, non-governmental, non-partisan and not-for-profit Human Rights advocacy organisation established in 2006. It seeks to remove impediments to democratic development and meaningful enjoyment of the fundamental freedoms enshrined in Indian Constitution and other internationally recognised Human Rights instruments. Registered legally as a Human Rights entity under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 vide Registration Number F/1362/Gandhinagar and under Registration of Societies Act 1860 vide Registration Number Guj/1406/Gandhinagar as charitable and not-for-profit non-government organisation, the Registered Office of PFHR is located at Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, having registration under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.

PFHR addresses the entire range of Human Rights – Civil, Political, Economic, Social as well as Cultural Rights as defined in International Human Rights covenants. This is done through public education, capacity building efforts for the community leaders as well as strengthening collaboration with grass root structures, strategic partnerships, media campaigns, mass empowerment, research, monitoring, documentation and reporting; strategic litigation and legislative analysis, review and advocacy.

One in four people in the world live in a country where dictators deny them basic political and civil rights and PFHR has been creating and spreading mass awareness by organising regular Seminars, Conferences, Women s Day, Environment Day, Health Day, Human Rights Day, Yoga Day, Global Warming, Cultural Events, Anti-Terrorism Day, Nukkad Nataks (Street Plays) Talent hunt programs for poor and needy rural and urban children and youth all over the country since its inception and has conducted numerous Sporting events to promote sports among the upcoming generation. Besides, have organised numerous blood donation camps through our strong force of thousands of members and volunteers spread all corners of the country such as Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Shimla, Chandigarh, Raipur, Ranchi, Patna, Jalandhar, Goa, Hyderabad, Bangaluru, Srinagar, Dehradoon, Vikas Nagar (Uttarakhand), Lucknow, Bhopal and many more places round the nation benefitting thousands of lives and PFHR aims and wishes to enlighten the masses about the message of Bapu on Human Rights & Social Justice, from the platform of this seminar, with a grave concern that the country still accounts for one-third of poor people. 43% of Indian children are malnourished, a third of the world’s total. Over 35% of Indians are illiterate, and more than 20 million children are out of school and such issues need to be debated on war footing towards a new revolution to see the dream of Mahatma Gandhi come true, which is not possible till the last person of our society is uplifted.
